Description

The University of Northampton (UON) has a proven reputation for innovation and commitment to improving the student experience, resulting in the university being named as the UK’s first Changemaker Campus. This is a significant achievement as one of the youngest UK universities. In building a modern university from the ground up, UON has created a leading edge learning environment unmatched by more traditional higher education providers. This focus on innovation presents a really exciting opportunity for technology and information services to play a lead role in the delivery of the University’s strategic plan. We are therefore looking for a proven IT leader to lead the development of our information and technology strategy and oversee digital transformation across the University.

As a key member of University Leadership Team, the Director of IT will ensure UON maintains its hard-earned position as a sector leader in IT innovation and digitally enabled learning. On arrival you will assess how the current IT strategy aligns with the overall organisational strategy for UON and make any necessary amendments to ensure strategic goals are achieved. You will inherit a highly capable team covering applications and infrastructure services, security and compliance as well as data management. Degree qualified, you will be recognised for your strengths in inclusive people management, with a proven track record in providing an environment where individuals feel empowered to learn and develop core skills. You will also demonstrate a collaborative and collegiate approach to delivering best in class IT services that benefit both student and staff experience. We encourage applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience, and previous experience in the higher education sector is not an essential requirement.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to advance your IT leadership expertise in one of the UK’s forward-thinking and digitally advanced universities then it would be great to hear from you. For an informal and confidential discussion about the role and your suitability, please contact either Katherine katherine.odonnell@gatenbysanderson.com or Graeme graeme.bilsland@gatenbysanderson.com.
