Description

The University of Northampton (UON) is one of the youngest universities in the UK but already leading the way in adding value to society. What matters the most to us is ensuring that our students and graduates have the opportunity to make their mark on the world too. We want to break the mould of what Higher Education can be. This has led us to build a whole new University from the ground up that is designed to reflect the way that you actually learn rather than the way you are expected to learn. Waterside Campus opened in September 2018.

Following the launch of 2023-2027 Strategy and our focus on student experience, a new role of Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education & Student Experience) has been created, to focus exclusively on the University’s programmes of study, our academic standards and the quality of the student experience.

Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor and a member of the University Executive Group and University Leadership Team, the role holder will play a central role in the strategic leadership of the University, implementation of our mission and strategy, while upholding and displaying the institution’s values. You will develop, lead and champion the University’s strategies relating to education, student experience and student futures, and work collaboratively to deliver outcomes that improve the student experience and satisfaction, including teaching, assessment and feedback, and extra-curricular experience.

We are therefore looking for an academic leader who will have demonstrable experience of providing strategic and visionary direction in the development of strategies related to a cross-institutional portfolio and leading at a senior level across a range of disciplines, learning and teaching, academic quality and student experience. You will also be recognised for your strengths in inclusive people management, with a passionate leadership style, grounded in strongly held values aligned to UON’s values of equality, trust, aspiration and sustainability.

If you have vision, passion and determination to make a difference, we want to hear from you. This is a key appointment for us, and it will be for you – so we will invest time with candidates to get to know you and to give you the chance to get to know us.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experience.

If you need further clarification, or an informal, confidential conversation about the role, please contact our advisors at GatenbySanderson: Chané Parsons, Hilda Gjika or Tessa Harrison at PVCUoN@gatenbysanderson.com
